Technical Description

This invention describes a method for directly 3D printing geogrids inside moist soil, clay, or underwater using Direct Ink Writing (DIW) based printing. It allows custom sized, depth controlled, in place geogrid reinforcement to improve soil tensile strength, reduce erosion, and enhance foundation performance.

Problems Addressed

  • Rigid Prefab Geogrids
  • Fixed Geometry Limitations
  • Poor Site Customization
  • Low Tensile Reinforcement
  • Manual Placement Hassles
  • Drainage/Erosion Gaps

Tech Features

  • In‑Situ Soil Printing
  • Direct Ink Writing
  • Phase‑Separation Mechanism
  • Controllable Strand Size
  • Tunable Printing Speed
  • Depth/Patterning Control

Target Audience

  • Civil Infrastructure Contractors
  • Highway and Railway Developers
  • Geotechnical Engineering Firms
  • Land Reclamation Projects
  • Flood/Erosion Control Agencies
  • Research & Development
