The present invention provides a novel polymeric hydrogel for treating melanoma cancer. It offers a drug loaded linear biopolymer-based hydrogel for drug delivery of therapeutic agents which is released in a sustained manner, thereby enhancing its bioavailability in targeted cancerous tissues.
