Guided-Wave Transducer

Technical Description

The technology relates to a guided-wave ultrasonic transducer for permanent high-temperature non-destructive evaluation. It uses a magnetostrictive amorphous metallic strip as the waveguide and selects a guided mode that concentrates stress near the centre of the strip for better signal transmission.

Problems Addressed

  • Multiple Propagation Modes
  • Low-frequency Limitations
  • Signal Transmission Loss
  • Long High-temperature Buffer Rods
  • Poor Fit In Confined Spaces

Tech Features

  • Impedance Matching
  • Centred Mode Structure
  • Magnetostrictive Strips
  • Short Waveguide
  • Comb Transduction
  • Pulser-Receiver with Coils

Target Audience

  • Oil, Gas, And Petrochemical Companies
  • Power Generation Plants
  • Railway And Civil Infrastructure
  • Equipment Manufacturers
  • Research Institutions
