Acetate Guided Hyaluronan Production

Technical Description

The technology discloses a fermentation process for producing high molecular weight hyaluronan (HA) using recombinant Lactococcus lactis MKG6. Acetate co-utilization and controlled feeding strategies adjust metabolic fluxes and acetyl-CoA availability. Anaerobic fermentation is reported to produce HA with a molecular weight of 3.4 MDa.

Problems Addressed

  • Low HA Molecular Weight
  • Unmet High-Molecular-Weight Demand
  • Overlooked Cofactor Requirements
  • Limited Acetate Co-utilization
  • Insufficient Precursor Availability
  • Biomedical Product Stability Needs
