Aero-Ballistic FGM Gun

Technical Description

The invention provides a highly cost-effective high strain rate plastic deformation method and an aero-ballistic device to manufacture reliable bulk metallic Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). By firing structural alloy projectiles at ultra-high velocities against a stationary target plate, the system induces localized dynamic recrystallization to form a continuous, seamless property gradient in a fraction of a second.

Problems Addressed

  • Inter-laminar Shear Stress Failures
  • Severe Geometric Production Limits
  • Expensive Additive Manufacturing Costs
  • Interface Discontinuity and Layer Snapping
  • Unreliable Component Lifespan Estimations

Tech Features

  • Three-Tube Aero-Ballistic Gun Setup
  • Pressure-Controlled Velocity Impact Range (100–750 m/s)
  • Adjustable Oblique Target Tilted Alignment
