Fluid-Free Tube Inspection Robot

Technical Description

The invention provides a highly portable, multi-sensory external robotic reformer tube crawler to inspect high-temperature hydrogen reformer tubes. By combining dual-laser profiling, low-frequency eddy current testing, and dry EMAT sensors, the system non-destructively maps internal wall defects and outer diametrical creep variation without requiring a liquid couplant.

Problems Addressed

  • Catastrophic Tube Ruptures
  • Lateral Tracking Deviation Errors
  • Costly Unscheduled Facility Shutdowns
  • Bulky, Water-Dependent Legacy Systems
  • Inefficient Component Lifespan Management

Tech Features

  • Dual 4-Wheel Guide-Rail-Free Chassis
  • Non-contact Dry Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMAT)
  • 2–40 mm Wavelength Triple Racetrack Coils
  • Dual-Laser Distance Profiling
  • Low-frequency electromagnetic eddy current testing probes
  • Outer Diameter Variation Percentage Calculation
  • Lightweight portability layout profiling (6–12 kg)

Target Audience

  • Hydrogen Plant Operators
  • Petrochemical & Oil Refining
  • Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Refining
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Services
