Multiaxial Strain Sensing Composite

Technical Description

The technology discloses a polymer composite containing graphene-wrapped carbon nanotubes for strain sensing in multiple directions. The nanofiller is dispersed in a polymer solution and solvent cast into a composite film.

Problems Addressed

  • Low Strain Gauge Sensitivity
  • Single-Direction Strain Measurement
  • Heavy Metallic Strain Gauges
  • Corrosion-Related Reliability Issues
  • Low Chemical Resistance
  • Unreliable Structural Strain Data

Tech Features

  • Graphene-Wrapped Carbon Nanotubes
  • Nanofiller Embedded in a Polymer Matrix
  • Strain Sensing
  • Strain Gauge Factor About 20
  • 98% Weight Retained after Strong-Acid Treatment

Target Audience

  • Structural Health Monitoring
  • Aircraft Component Testing
  • Strain Sensor Development
