Technical Description
The technology introduces a system and method for developing uni-layer brazed grinding wheels by placing cBN or diamond abrasive grits in a pre-defined array using a pick-drop-place (PDP) technique. It uses multi-needle vacuum grippers, piezoelectric load sensing and real-time digital monitoring to ensure uniform grit distribution and controlled protrusion without templates.
Problems Addressed
- Grit Clustering in Brazed Wheels
- Uneven Grit Protrusion from Bond Level
- Dependence on Placement Templates
- Limited Control Over Grit Patterns
- Low Precision in Grit Placement
- Uneven Grinding and Short Tool Life
Tech Features
- Multi-Needle Vacuum Grit Gripper
- High-Resolution Linear Stages
- Piezoelectric Placement Load Sensor
- Feedback-Controlled Grit Positioning
- Digital Microscope In-Situ Inspection
- Filler Alloy Brazing Process
