Technical Description
The technology discloses a software method and system that improves the accuracy of X-ray (C-arm) guided surgical navigation, particularly in spine surgery. Instead of treating every reference marker on the imaging calibration device equally, it scores each marker's error through centroid-deviation or reprojection analysis. It then weights the markers and recalibrates the imaging device using only the most reliable ones. In testing this reduced calibration error by up to 8.36%, and phantom studies showed screw-tracking accuracy within 2 mm.
