Automated Pan-Shot Video Synthesis

Technical Description

This invention automatically generates a pan shot from a video by calculating inter-frame object displacement and relative depth through foreground correlation across consecutive video frames. These frames are then deblurred, rewarped using homographies, and averaged to produce a final output featuring a sharp, static foreground against a motion-blurred background.

Problems Addressed

  • Object’s Velocity Guess Beforehand
  • Intricate Hardware Tuning
  • Irreversible Object Blurring
  • Lack of Post-Capture Automation

Tech Features

  • Feature Registration (SIFT)
  • Robust Alignment Estimation (RANSAC)
  • Background Homography Generation
  • MRF Graph-Cut Segmentation
  • Trimap-Guided Alpha-Matting
  • Inter-Frame Displacement Tracking
  • Gradient-Based Blur Weight Profiling

Target Audience

  • Digital Video Editing Suites
  • Mobile Hardware & Smartphone Manufacturers
  • Action & Sports Video Camera Developers
